Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) is a modern educational and scientific public institution. Since its foundation in the 1937, more than 145.000 students have graduated. In average, 14.000 students study at the STU every year. At present, the STU consists of seven faculties based in Bratislava and Trnava and one university institute. All STU faculties provide accredited study programs at the bachelor, master and PhD study levels. Faculties practice credit system compatible with the European credit transfer system enabling mutual mobility of students within European Union member countries and a larger European space. Using the modern methods of education, laboratories and practical training, STU offers education mainly in technical, technological, technicaleconomical, technical-information and technical-artistic fields of study with very high and stable opportunities of graduates’ employment in the labour market.
The STU is considered to be one of the leading academic institutions, it has received numerous national and international high rankings and awards for its quality of research and teaching. During its existence, STU has made a significant contribution to the development of scientific knowledge, and the enrichment and application of scientific knowledge for the benefit of mankind.
Its graduates are successful in the labour market, not only in Slovakia, but also abroad, they are in high demand, and they belong among the highest-paid of all university graduates in Slovakia.
STU offers education also in foreign languages, primarily in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry and food technology, and architecture.
STU is a research oriented university, cooperating with industry and it has strong international links. International cooperation is a significant area based on interactive contact with educational as well as scientific-research institutions of the countries all over the world. At presence, it focuses on the joint projects within the EU framework and other international programmes, mobility of students, teaching staff and researchers.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering having the position of a legal body is one of seven faculties of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Its structure involves 11 institutes, Technology Quality Transfer Center, Mechanical Engineering Consultancy Center and Institute for Education PSA Peugeot-Citroën – FME STU. In the premises of the Faculty, the STU Technological Incubator was established. High professional competence and reputation of Faculty members create the base to attract various companies and industries to solve tasks on industrial design, production planning, process control, equipment maintenance and to find new solutions to problems of industry and society. The faculty participates in projects within international bilateral agreements and in European Union projects. Tens of research projects are partly or fully supported by national grant agencies.
FME offers also study in English language.
Many of graduates have reached high positions in large companies such as Volkswagen, Peugeot – Citroen.
